Abortion Victim Added

Posted by axeswipe on July 25, 2012 at 8:05 AM Comments comments (0)

It is with great sadness that I add Tonya Reeves, 24, to the Abortion Victims Memorial page. Tonya died July 25th, 2012 after hemorrhaging from a botched abortion performed at Chicago's 18 S. Michigan Avenue Planned Parenthood abortion clinic.

To add insult to injury, Planned Parenthood refused to acknowledge any responsibility for this young woman's death as evident by the statement given by Planned Parenthood of Illinois CEO Carole Brite to CBS News: "We were shocked and saddene...

Response to A Liberal Fallacy

Lisa Graass wrote on her Catholic Bandita blog about corporate sponsorships of MTV's "SavageU" program which is basically homosexual activist and collumnist Dan Savage going to college campuses and pretending to be some kind of psychologist sex advisor like Dr. Ruth or Dr. Drew in his own vulgar and disgusting way. While MTV ga...

The Absolute Truth of "Evolving" Marriage

President Obama’s stance on so called same-sex “marriage” (SSM) has finally “evolved”…not really. He held the same stance in support of SSM in 1996 when he was running for the U.S. Senate. As part of his political strategy during his presidential bid and after the election, he rolled back his view in order ...

The "War" on Women Religious: Hardly

Posted by axeswipe on May 4, 2012 at 1:15 PM Comments comments (0)

Lately, the left has been decrying the Catholic Church's "crackdown" on the "poor sweet nuns" of the Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) saying that it is a war on all nuns in America in order to force them into submission to the heirarchy of "old men in robes" and to force sisters to "bow to the will of Rome". To top it all off, they *gasp* appointed a bishop (you know, one of those old men in robes") to beat these poor innocent women into submission. This is hardly true.

King Obama's Foreign Wives

Posted by axeswipe on February 9, 2012 at 7:00 PM Comments comments (0)

I feel today's liturgical readings are very appropriate to the socio-political climate in America today. The first reading, from the Book of Kings describes How King Solomon broke God's statutes and started building altars to and worshipping false gods that were worshipped by some of his foreign wives. One in particular was Molech, the Ammorite god, to whom infant children were sacrificed in hopes&...

Ignorance Is Bliss And Other Musings

Posted by axeswipe on January 27, 2012 at 3:40 PM Comments comments (0)

Sometimes I just long to return to those happy-go-lucky days when I didn't know squat about the realities of the world and could just indulge in my own personal pursuits. Like how I didn't know about the 54,000,000+ babies aborted since 1973, just that there was a case called Row v. Wade or how much people REALLY hated religion (because I didn't have any either) or how hard it was going to be to try to keep my kids (much less myself) sane in such a screwed-up...

Christmas-time Musings

Posted by axeswipe on December 23, 2011 at 11:30 AM Comments comments (2)

This has been a particularly hard Advent season for me. The past few months in fact have been challenging.

I was admitted to the hospital mid-August with gangrene which put me out of work for 6 weeks. This incurred unexpected medical bills on top of the expense of repairing the roof of the house after a bad wind storm blew through (I still say we had a near-touchdown tornado in my neighborhood). Needless to say, Christmas is going to be very modest this year for the family.

My fa...

Why I Hate The Occupy Protests

Posted by axeswipe on November 21, 2011 at 1:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Well, I now have a reason to truly hate the occupy protests. They've ruined one of my favorite songs for me. The other day I was listening to Thin Lizzy's "The Emerald" from their Jailbreak album and it occured to me how much occupy protesters channel this song. In case you're not familiar, here are the lyrics;

Down from the glen came the marching men
With their shields and their swords
To fight the fight they believed to be right
Overthrow the overlords

To the ...

Answered Prayer

About 12 years ago, after our second son was born, I chose to receive a vasectomy. I won't go into the whys or what-fors here, other than to state that it was a decision I have since regretted, especially since I have often wished for a daughter. Vasectomy reversals are seldom successful (approximately 3% chance of success) and most insurance companies will not pay for a reversal.

Before Mass last night, I knelt at the Marian shrine built ...

God Is Forever

Just a humorous little personal anecdote that I'd like to share.

Last weekend was fairly typical. Saturday morning I went to men's Bible study. Saturday night, the whole family went to Mass and Sunday morning I took Communion to an elderly home-bound parishioner. As I said, pretty typical.

When it came time to drop my oldest son off for the 11:30 Mass at which he sings in the choir, I informed my wife I would be staying for Mass. To which, she responded, "WHAT? You don't spend any...
